Paris Fashion Week compresses dozens of shows, presentations and showroom appointments into a few days, spread across a city that was not designed for it. This guide explains how the week actually works on the ground — and how to plan transport that keeps up.
The seasons at a glance
The official calendar is set by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM). Each year Paris hosts two Womenswear seasons (late February–March and late September–October), two Menswear seasons (January and June), and two Haute Couture weeks (late January and early July). Exact dates are published on the FHCM calendar — always check the current season before booking hotels or cars.
Where the shows actually happen
There is no single "Fashion Week venue." Shows scatter across recurring locations:
- The Tuileries / Louvre axis — temporary structures in the Jardin des Tuileries and the Cour Carrée
- Palais de Tokyo and the 16th — several major houses show here each season
- Le Marais / République — Carreau du Temple and smaller presentation spaces
- Grand Palais / Grand Palais Éphémère — the marquee shows
- Private mansions and unexpected venues — announced days before, sometimes hours
The practical consequence: your day can swing from the 16th arrondissement to the 3rd and back twice. On paper that is 25 minutes each way. On a show day, with street closures around venues and photographers spilling into the road, it can be double.

The métro is faster on some segments — but few people attending shows in heels, carrying a laptop and two garment bags, choose Line 9 at rush hour.
How professionals organise their week
Editors and stylists usually book a single chauffeur on hourly disposition for each show day. The car becomes a moving base: coats, chargers, the second pair of shoes. Between shows, the chauffeur repositions to the next venue while you finish backstage.

Vehicle capacity in Paris is finite and Fashion Week books it out. As a rule of thumb:
- 6–8 weeks ahead — guaranteed choice of vehicle category and multi-day dedicated chauffeur
- 2–3 weeks ahead — availability likely, category not guaranteed on peak days
- Show week itself — possible for single transfers, difficult for full-day dispositions
